Fog/side marker light 8 pin harness location?

Hello,

New the the forums and to Jaguars. I bought a wrecked early 04 X-Type and am just about to start driving it. I'm having some difficulty locating where the wire harness for the fog lights and side marker lights plugs into the car. I have a new harness (the old one was gone), but I am not sure where it plugs in to. Is it on the drivers side or passenger side? I see two plugs on the drivers side, one is a 10 pin and the other is a 6 pin. Any help is appreciated, also I have searched the forum and wasn't able to find the answer, but if you know the post could you give me the link.

Thanks

According to the wiring diagram the harness plugs in behind the left hand wheel arch liner. Designation number JB171.

BTW welcome to the forum and I hope we can get you sorted.

Hope this helps.

Hey jimbov8, thanks for the response. I see two plugs behind the drivers side wheel arch liner. One is a 6 pin plug and the other is a 10 pin plug. What I bought was an 8 pin harness, which from what I have found is the only harness made for the X-Type fog and side marker lights. I'm going to go out today and look on the passenger side to see if there is anything there. I bought the car wrecked and this harness was already off, which is why I'm having such a hard time finding where it plugs into.

Edit: I looked on both sides, I took pictures of the drivers side plugs, but I'll have to upload them later.

Alright, finally got around to getting the pics off my phone. Here is what I'm looking at. This is on the drivers side, I took the passenger side wheel liner off, but didn't see anywhere for it to plug into.

Well I'm only guessing here but, I would think the harness you have bought will plug into one of those 2 sockets.

Do you have a close up photo of the harness you need to fit.

The harness I got will not fit in there, since it's only an 8 pin plug. I called a Jag dealer today to have them look it up. Got a part number but they couldn't tell me how many pins it had. I found a dealer in NC that had one on hand and said it was a 10 pin plug. The part number is C2S29270, but I really didn't want to have to buy it from a dealer, seeing as how the price it pretty high. The only dealer in Iowa quoted me $89 and the one in NC said they get $130. So I now have an 8 pin harness for sale and either need to find a place online that I can get it a little cheaper or bite the bullet and order it through the dealer. Thanks for all the help Jim!
