Default Heat Shield for intake filter

Hi all,can anyone help me,there was a topic about "learn from my mistake,built a airtake for less then $70.",something like that.i was able to purchase all the parts needed,but what about the heat sheild?and do i have to remove the old filter box?pls help thank you!

barok, see my post under the General section. In short, unless you have fabrication abilities, getting a shield is going to be a custom one off thing. As for the need, you are balancing power loss due to sucking hot underhood air against forcing the air to come in through a torturous path. Never seen anything that conclusively proved one was better than the other.
