heating issues

Hey guys I was away for a bit i went to India on vacation and came back after a month. When i left the weather here ( canada) was warm and had no use for my heater but now i need it LOL. I have this one problem every time i press the power button it automatically turns on the AC then i press the AC button to turn it off and then i turn the power/fan button off and then turn it on agian it turns the AC 3 out of 5 times. Also i noticed this when i start my car up in the morning and the nite before i set the heat on in the morning the AC turns on. I tryed playing with the auto button but cant get the AC to not turn on. Any suggestions? does this happen to anybody else?

I have the same behaviour. On one hand i dont like the AC running when it is not needed...... (waste of fuel)
on the other hand I know perfectly well that even though the red AC indicator is lit up... I know the the compressor wont run unless it is needed.
So if it is cold out.. and the AC light is on, dont worry.. the AC is not actually running.

My a/c light always comes on initially when I turn the blower fan on no matter what temp its set at. I just press
the a/c button to turn it off, no biggie.

jessy, the red light for the A/C is simply telling you that the compressor is ready should cooling via the freon system be needed. It doesn't mean that it will actually be used. The automatic temperature control will adjust stuff as necessary to maintain the desired temperature. I blame this on the different view Jag took with the heating/cooling system. If you are used to north american cars, this can be an oddball thing. Smile, all is good.
