Heating problem
So recently my 02 xtype stopped blowing hot air. Its a problem since we just got a foot and a half of snow and i travel an hr to work. Has this ever happened to anybody?

Silver, a few things can cause this sort of thing. First, check your coolant level to make sure it is where it needs to be. If that is fine and the motor is running at a normal temp, then your problem lies with the temp flapper in the dash. Do you have the automatic temperature control system or the basic 3 dial setup? That will help us give you more detailed ways of figuring out where the problem lies.

its not the one with the knobs but i think its the flap because the car is not overheating, but that doesnt mean the level is not low so ill check that, but i might have to take my dash apart. what is the name of that flap and exactly where is it located?

The name of the flap is the air blend door. IT is located up behind the upper registers. To access it:
Remove the lower vent. Detach the bulb holder. Remove the lower vent. Remove the air inlet blend door actuator. Remove the retaining screws. Disconnect the electrical connector. Hope this helps. |
Actually it fixed itself. All i did was to blast it on the lowest temp for a little bit and brought it up again and it was actually hot air. So i dont know what the deal was but it works now, but im gonna save those instructions just in case. Thanks for the help thermo!!
