Help! A/C Problems, 2003 x-type
New-to-me Jag (I love it) is blowing hot air.
I wanted to add freon. Looked under wire harness on passenger side where others said low pressure valve was; could not find it, even when moving wire harness aside. Where can I locate it? Also, my compressor clutch fuse keeps blowing; is this indicative of a bad compressor? Thanks! |
First order of business is to figure out why it is blowing fuses. Make sure it is the correct amperage (Alldata shows red 10 amp) fuse that is being used, next check all connections as a lose one can cause excess resistence and hence blown fuses. With the engine OFF, turn the compressor by hand, it should turn easily, if it is hard to turn that could be your problem. Go through the BASICS first however, as replacing a compressor can be pricey.

Fuses are OK. Thanks for the compressor trick; will try turning compressor by hand in a few. Do you know where I can find the low pressure valve? Can't find where others have mentioned. |
Zeke: With the hood open, stand by the front right tire (the US passenger side), near the hood hinge. Look down by the firewall and you'll see two black plastic caps covering the high and low pressure Freon ports.
This post has a picture of the low pressure port at the tip of the screwdriver: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...35/#post552770 The high pressure port is in the same pictures, to the left of the low pressure port and above the blue screwdriver handle. Always wear safety glasses and gloves when working with Freon. Good luck. |
