HELP - Hi Beams work but low beams don't?

My car has 4 headlights, 2 on one side & 2 lenses on the other side. Are the hi beams and the low beams in the same lens, the inside lens? If the Hi beams work, but the low beams do not, just a very low glow not enough to drive with, what should I be looking for? I checked the fuses and they look good and have also replaced the relay in the engine comp fuse box. Thanks

Checked for a melted connector on the back of the low beam bulbs(outside lense) its a common problem. You cut off those connectors and crimp on spade connectors. There are other threads in the xtype section on this probobly with pics and how too's

shula, if you are handy with a multimeter, we can do some voltage measurements to get you down to proving a faulty component. But, as Brutal said, the plugs on the back of the headlight bulbs are notorious for causing problems. So, that is probably a good place to start. Just a word of caution though, take it easy with the headlight housings. if you push on the internals of the headlights too much, you can break the self leveling pieces and then your lights will point towards the ground. This normally results in having to buy new headlight assemblies. This can get expensive. I don't want to deter you from doing your own work, but better to learn from the mistakes of others than make the mistake yourself.

Change both of your low beam bulbs. Have had plenty of customers come in with the same issue.

When I jump the 3 to 5 slot in the relay and then do a voltage check from the bulb connector to ground, I get 12 V. Must be a bad set of bulbs?

Shula, bad bulbs or you managed to damage both sides worth of wiring at about the same time. Did you happen to run over anything by chance. Not sure what else it could be.

Bad Bulbs

I took it to the shop. One broken buld, have no idea how that could have happened being inside the engine comaptment and no damage to the outside lens, and one burnt out bulb. They had to remove the front bumper, 2 1/2 hours, $165.00.
