Help....No Reverse

Need some help with a problem. I have an 02 X-Type, 3.0L Sport with 101,000 miles on it. I have had it a couple of years now (80K on the clock when I got it). Anyway, during all of these 100+ days we were having the reverse gear in the car suddenly ceased to function. There is no grinding or noise to speak of and the car drives well in the forward gears with no slipping. Admittedly, I have changed every fluid in the car except, you guessed it, the trans. Opinions, dead gearbox, trans case, or something else? Thanks in advance....I did search the problem, but didn't really find anything that really matched up. Also, I haven't checked the fluid level in the trans, but plan on doing so tomorrow.

Actually, I think I found my answer. I'll check the fluid in my auto box, and then I think it's off to the transmission guy.

Just curios what the Trans shop told you. Having the same problem and if you resolved yours, please share. THANKS!

I ended up replacing mine. It's also a good chance to get a sump gasket replaced, if it needs one. I got a used trans with 20k from eBay with shipping for $1000.00, a new oil pan and gasket, installation and fluids, for a total of $2.5k. Everything went together easy easy. I changed the transfer case fluid, and now the old girl is back to herself.

Glad you got yours all done. Now I need to save up and get mine back on the road. Thanks again!
