HELP - rear park assist & cruise control upgrade!
 

Hi all,
JimC here, a new convert to Jaguardom. I have just bought an 02 plate Jaguar 2.5 V6 Sport ( for the wife, would you believe) but lovin it myself. Unfortunately being in sales and travelling 40 - 50k a year the Jags not an option for me on a day to day basis.
Its a gorgeous car in fantastic shape, however there are one or two upgrades I would like to make.
The first is rear parking assist, having checked with Jaguar dealer to be told around £400- £500. I believe that you can buy a system c/w rear valance for around the £100 mark?
The second is cruise control. I haven't yet checked with Jaguar but no doubt out of this world prices. Anybody any ideas if it is possible and cost?
The third is brake upgrade. For such a heavy car I feel that stopping seems to be err sluggish when you wanna stop quickly. Any ideas of cost on these vented sporty front discs and maybe redstuff pads?
I keep hearing about CHRIS and his wonderful work at competitive prices. Please, please, please, does anybody have a contact number for him and where he hails from?

Chris upgraded mine to cruise control.You will need either a new steering wheel with switches or like me just buy the switches (£20 brand new (cruise and stereo)from Ben in the parts bin dept.at Lloyds Jag,Carlisle).Once you fit the switches Chris (Jag master technician at a dealer in Yorkshire will then program it for you for for around £60...no other dealer will do it as Jag blocked the X Type cruise re-programming with its software at dealers.If you had an S Type they do it but they DONT for X types).Join www.jaguarforum.co.uk and PM Chris to get booked in.Best mod I ever did couldnt have travelled the 1850 mile round trip to France last summer without it.
Rear park assist.You need the valence with sensors and wiring(got mine from Ben at LLoyds Jag £80 brand new or try Chris), get a bleeper unit from ebay for less than a fiver,and a reverse park ECU module which fits in the spare wheel well(there are 2 kinds one with 40 odd pins and one with 26 pins depending on year).I tried for ages to get one of these and got the wrong one off ebay but sold it on to a guy in Poland,EuroJag were just selling one on ebay dont think it sold (check its right for your year).In the end I paid £50 from the dealer.Instructions for fitting can be found in PDF form from http://www.ownerinfo.jaguar.com/extf...prod/index.jsp select X Type and then accessory fitting instructions then search for parking aid and select the appropriate download from the list displayed.
Brakes..upgraded mine to EBC ceramic redstuff pads and grooved/dimpled discs.Go to EBCbrakesdirect.com and type in scooby58 at the checkout for 15% discount and free UK shipping.Let me know if you want the part number for the rear grooved/dimpled discs as it doesnt show up as an option.Dramatic difference in braking and virtually no brake dust.The little there is cleans straight off no trouble.
