Question Touch up paint

Hi it has been a long time since I made a post, but I read all the post sent to my cell, anyway. I have a 2003 X type recently I went to my Jaguar dealer to get some touch up paint. My car is Zircon a light blue color. I had the paint code in hand also. I purchased the touch up paint which stated Zircon and the correct paint code. However when I went to do the touch up the color came out a silver color and not blue. So I went back to the dealer which is a 25 mile ride one way and told him of the problem. The clerk said it is the correct color, so I showed him the bottle and the walked him out to the parking lot and showed him my car.His answer was it will turn blue when it is applied. Guess what it did not turn blue. Any ideas about what is going on. I did verify the color of my car on 3 different on line sites and it is Zircon.

Jaguar touch up tubes are usually a good match although prohibitively expensive.

Did you give the paint a good shake before applying it?

Also your car is 13 years old and may have faded a bit.
Always a chance the wrong paint was put into the bottle.

Try paintscratch.com or one of the after market paint places. That bottle could have been on the dealer shelf for years.

Go to automotivetouchup.com They aren't expensive, and their color is dead nuts on. I used it to repaint a whole quarter panel on my car, and it blends perfectly. Just follow their instructions to the letter. You can even color sand it. They have it in all different bottles, rattle cans, and quarts, and gallons. I had the quarter in question painted at a supposedly top notch body shop, and all they could say was the rest of the car needed a buff, when I had just done it a week before. It does sometimes take about 2 weeks for them to mix a certain color batch, but I am pleased with their results......Mike

Smile Touch Up Paint

I kept on shaking the bottle until my wrist hurt. I asked the clerk to get another bottle of touch up in Zircon and the color was the same as mine. Someone mentioned tube, my paint cam in a small bottle with a bottle of clear coat no tube. The box had Jaguar written all over it so I trust it was a factory product. Thanks for the sites to look at for paint.

Glad to see you are back posting, Adam. It has been a long time. I hope your health has improved and hope you can get your paint issue worked out soon.

Smile Touch up Paint redux

I ordered touch up from automotivetouchup.com. As I mentioned in my first post the Jaguar touch up was not a match. The automotive was a match a tad darker but after it dried I used some compound to lighten it and it looks good now. For some reason I did not take before and after pictures, what a dummy. But automotivetouchup.com does a great job, thank you.
