how do I find out if my 2005 xtype has bluetooth ?

tomfearns, your car does not have it. It was only available from MY2006 to present and then it was only available if you also had the stereo with the cell phone option. I took this from the service manual for the X-Type.
Now, an option that you can look into (not sure what it may cost you or how difficult it may be), but if you pull the stereo out of an 06 or 07 X-Type that has the cell phone feature, you can retrofit it back into your car. The radios are the same size and I seem to remember that you have a little tray that will get installed in the center console storage area that has a hole there already.
