Default How to replace 2002 Jaguar X-Type AM FM Cassette Radio?

I recently broke the LCD screen on my dashboard (the screen that shows you how powerful the heat or AC is running and shows you the temp inside the car.

Anyways I bought a new one for $75, see below for a picture of what I'm talking about.

Are there any instructions or videos I can follow to install this in my car?

You will have to take the ash tray and the trim around the shifter off. Then it's just undo the nuts, pull the old one out, and reverse install the new unit. It's plug and play.
You may need the radio code, but being a U.S. car you probably won't.

So someone recently told me even if I replace it, it won't work because it has to be programmed... And the dashboards are programmed to the cars VIN. So the dashboard I bought off of Ebay won't even work.

Is that true?

The radio/CD should work right away. Any extras... Like Trunk CD, ACM will need to be programmed. If you have a local Jag guy they should be able to do it. My guy charged me $30. If you go to a dealer be ready to hand over at least $100.
