instruments panel facelift
Dear all!
I am struggling to find an X-type that fits my needs and is in good condition. Most recently, I found this italian car manufactured in 2005/03. My problem is its indtruments panel. The handbrake signal is a red ((P)) and a red ((!)) - is not this the signal in the prefacelift models? I thought the post facelift models have a signal on the handbrake that is a "BRAKE" sign. Is that true? thank you! |
According to pre - 2004.25 model owners manuals the ((P)) & ((!)) Icon is shown.
My 2006 manual shows this icon = https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...11fa15cf0c.jpg |
Dear Dell Gailey,
Thank you so much for your response! Yes, this is what I found in the user manuass as well, so I suspect there is something fishy about this car, it is advertised as 2005/3 and shows this: https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...b18b55b698.jpg The steering wheel is post-facelift. Are the wiring and connoccectors the same in the instruments panel regardless the year? |

Thank you. So I can find cars with different brake symbols in different Europen countries even? I thought they consider Europe as one.

For non-US market cars the symbols you show in your photo are perfectly correct. Here is a photo I have just taken of the display in my 2005 Canadian-market X-Type Sportwagon - it is identical to that in your photo.Since the 1960's Jaguars for the US market have differed in detail from those destined to other markets - and the X-Type is not an exception. The base model X-Type for the US market, for example, came without wood fillets on the doors while the base model for Canada not only had as standard the wood but other items as well. Jaguar does tailor the cars for the expectations and the regulations of the different markets:
