Jaguar x-type VDP

Soooo. Today, i was at a mall and when i walked outside I saw a beautiful X-Type. I looked at the seats from afar and saw light khaki seats with black piping. I thought what in the world could that be... So I drove all around it and on the back it had VDP on the right side (It said VDP, not Vanden Plas). Have any of you all ever seen this? I looked for more on the internet.... I found "Jaguar X-Type VDP edition" But I looked at the photos and saw no contrasting piping or VDP badging. What's your opinion? Did he special order it?

Note: Of course, my $400 cell phone broke and had to be sent off to get fixed. ( it had a 4 megapixel camera with zoom.) So I could only take pictures with a loaner phone. (1 megapixel) I will try to post the pictures.

Update: Sorry, i can't upload the pictures with the loaner phone... We'll have to wait about two weeks for my phone to come back.
Update: Ugh... after 2 hours, I finally got them.

I 100% believe that VDP stands for Van Den Plus which points out to the model that you would get more fancy accessories than rest of the X Types .
I saw piping seats w/ Sovereign Edition as well

Ive heard about it, but never seen it.

Yeah, that is no special order, just part of that VDP package. If you seach, like on Autotrader or a similar site you can certainly find those.

VDP (Vanden Plas) was a option package. It included the piped accented seats, different wood trim, and some other interior options. Only exterior difference I know of was the VDP badge.

I've seen a vdp s type like everyday on the way to school, and the only noticble thing was that the lines looked more blaned with the car then other s types

Oh, I see. By the way, VDP is Vanden Plas. :)

Yeah, it's the Vanden Plas Edition. Just an options package that became available in 2005 I believe...

The main features are contrasting piping on the seats, different wheels, chrome caps on the outside mirrors, and burlwood dash (instead of maple or sapelle wood on the "normal" x-type). Of these, the only thing I'd want would be the burl wood, since it looks richer than the standard wood. But when I was looking for my car, I couldn't justify the price premium on the VDP editions I saw.

Yep. When I bought my car, the dealer had two X-Types. Mine, and a green VDP. It was tempting, but the differences inside werent enough to justify what I thought was a lacklustre exterior difference. Both cars were green, but mine has the Jaguar racing green (brilliant in the sun!), and the VDP had a much duller dark green. The VDP had nice wheels and interior seat piping though. The wood trim is a nice touch too, but only because it was clearly different to other x-types. regular x-type trim still puts bmw/benz/audi trim to shame, imo.

Jaguar X-type VDP edition

I bought my wife the car she always coveted: 2005 Jaguar X-type, VDP Edition in 2008. We are the second owners of this Zircon blue, magnolia leather/taupe piping beauty. All VDPs came with 3.0 litre engines, upgraded Aluminum road wheels, burled walnut interiors (like the Vanden Plas), chrome rear view mirror caps, upgraded sound systems. Ours also has chrome B, C and D pillars. She is often stopped by admirers of the car. I recently stopped in the Jaguar/Aston Martin dealer in Palm Beach and the rep and manager had never heard of this trim level. You rarely see one on the road. Has anyone ever been able to access information on how many X-type VDP Editions were manufactured in 2005, 2006? The number has to be low, but how low?

The VDP of the US was marketed here in the UK as the Sovereign. It's not common here either!
