RE: K&N air filter install
You need to remove the oil cap, undo the 3 screws holding the cover for the engine and once the screws are loose, remove the cover (reinstall oil cap at this point). Now, you will need to undo the 8(?) screws holding the top of the air filter box to the bottom. At this point you will be able to lift straight up on the air filter box top and access the air filter.
I just installed a K&N on my car and while there is no major power gains, the car does pick up a little quicker. But, the old air filter was pretty nasty when I pulled it out. Seems like I picked up a little bit in mileage too. On my Memorial day trip, I was cruising the highways at 75 mph getting 26 mpg. Granted, I did find out that going up to 80 mph (DC traffic, if you have driven I-95, you know the 95 is not the highway designation) that you will start to loose a little bit in mileage. From what I can tell, you loose about 1 mpg changing speed from 75 to 80 mpg.
Just thought I would put that out there. What are other people getting in the way of mileage on their 3.0L Jags?

That's pretty much it guys..I know some would like you to believe you'll gain some noticable HP increase..Unfortunately, not much..but response to throttle demand is improved noticably though..I guess youcould call that HP increase...But, I don't think so though.

Driving to wisconsin and back with an average speend up in the high 70's I averaged about 24.6 or something like that. I'll have to find the pics I took. The average freeway speeds were 85 most of the time. City and highway in michigan was around 22 and now it's lucky to see 17 since living here in the metroplex of texas. Although I don't drive it now! I'm getting about 9mpg in the mounty!
