Looking to purchase a 2007 X Type (New to Jag)

Hi all,

Glad to have found this forum, as I'm sure there are loads of useful advice to be found. I live in Hong Kong and someone I know is selling a 2007 X Type 2.0L (or is it 2.1L). He mentioned it's a turbo but I can't find the petrol version with turbo, only the diesel. I test drove the car, and it's kept really well. It only has 44,000km on it (as the owner lives in Shanghai so rarely drives it).

Curious to know if anyone can share their experience owning this car?

Thanks!

Welcome to Jag. X-Type member. Yes you'll find lots of help and information about X-Type here. Yes, Jag. don't make turbo petrol, only diesel turbo. The car in such low mileage should give you any issue, but it demand good care and maintenance, this is my own experienced; First flush the coolant, use the same coolant original used by the OEM, by my mistaken my X-Type still sat in my garage. change transmission and TC fluid, don't drive too abused, it should last you for a long time. That's all I knew, other members, expectantly Thermo, Paul can tell you more.

Thanks! Helpful to know. He confirmed it isn't a turbo. So the car is a 2007 X Type 2.0L V6 Sport. Pretty nice, all black (even sprayed the rims black) with black interior.

My other question is how many km should I expect to get out of a full tank if it's mainly city driving?

Also folks - how do I know if the X Type I'm looking at is 2006-07? The grill has the vertical lines (all black) as opposed to the mesh.

The mess grill is obtion, it's not distinguish by the years, I don't know about diesel, but for petrol you don't get much m/g driving mostly in the city you'll get about 16-17 m/g if you drive really easy you might get 18.

Jaguar dropped the 2.1 V6 petrol engine around 2004 when they introduced the 2.0 litre diesel engine to the range. I guess that unless the car you are looking at has a 2.5 or 3.0 V6 I can't see it being a 2006-07 model.

Thanks for the feedback thus far everyone. I double checked the registration and the care is indeed manufactured in 2007. The model is the X-Type 2.0L V6 Sport. Right now, I'm sorting out parking and once that's done, will take the car for a thorough inspection and get the paper work done. Will definitely post some pictures in the future. It's an impressive car, indeed.

The s type is a good car with all the classic styling that jaguar should go back to. Only check the weather striping around the sunroof as well as the trans

Also get a mesh grill but keep the plastic in case of theft or you get tired of the mesh

Thanks Jaguarstyper! It's an X-Type, not the S (unfortunately).... but you are correct! I find the newer Jags to have lost some of that classic style which distinguishes them from other brands. The X-Type I am look at has no sunroof. I did notice the piece of plastic that connects the windshield to the front (where the wipers sit) is a bit loose. Do you think I should get that fixed back into place?

Jaguarstyper 09-26-2017 11:10 PM

Yes I would get that fixed for the fact that it may fly off and the Chinese may be strict on parts hanging off

Just a note, if the coolant header tank is plastic check that it isn’t starting to crack, some running gear (if not most) will be compatible with the Ford Mondeo of the same era I believe
