Last fall I smoked a deer in my '03 x-type now the vehicle is still mechanically sound so instead of scrapping the old girl I want to replace all the parts he damaged but as I was working on getting the hood opened (drive side latch is jammed shut working on that I saw a thread about it) I noticed he bent the passenger side metal bar that houses the latches and the rubber stoppers I was curious if that entire piece is replaceable or if I would have to get that fixed somehow if I can just buy one it and swap them out it would be so much easier since I'm already anticipating a pricey fix after it's all said and done but I love the car so I don't want to part ways with her.
Pic related: the piece i;m talking about is circled in red and looks to be removable. I believe this is the same style i have as well but i don't know how to confirm that but its close from what I can remember.
If there is a common name for this part as well that would be appreciated for searching to find online. I can try to provide more info if need be as well. Thanks everyone!
The cross member is replaceable. SNG Barratt stocks one but they are pricey. You can reach out to Dr.Dome a forum member who parts out x-types. Last I heard from him is he has 7 on hand for parts.Text or call DrDome (484-903-4813).

much appreciated I'll have to look into them both and see if I can pick one up!
I know its an old thread but wondering if you were able to get this done? I have a similar issue, and was wondering if possible to repair or replace easily.
My son was in a similar low speed collision, and the rest of the damage (hood, grille, bumper cover) i am comfortable handling, but this seems to be a bit of a quandary.

Any comments?
I was able to get into the hood area and all that after a bit of prying and manual operation of the hood latch (the cable popped off after the crash I assume but it worked after I re-attached it Iirc). However the part in OP was very expensive ($800+) to get or any Ebay parts were pieces that needed to be fabricated to work as intended. I toyed around a bit but ultimately failed after removing several bolts on the front end and still no obvious way to get it off. I ended up selling it for scrap price because I need the space back for other projects and my lack of resources put me at an impasse but if I had the time and resources I don't see why anyone capable couldn't do it.
TLR yes its possible, no I did not do it due to lack of resources.
Pick a part in North Las Vegas has lots of xtypes you can source the part from
Thanks for the response. Good to see a local. Any idea on shops to do the work?
The current process says they need to remove both fenders and weld in the part. Full quote was $8k, and as best i can tell replacing this part alone is likely to be $2k.

My kitty ate a flying couch at speed last November, tore the front end up pretty well.
The header panel is NOT a difficult replacement.
They are spot welds and there is plenty of room to get the gun around them. We did have the (US) driver's side fender off since mine needed to be replaced.
The front bumper and fascia were off at the same time.
Pick-a-part charged $35 for the entire panel with the clamps. I paid more for a new release cable!
