Default More jelly people..

I just had to share this story..

So I go to Starbucks last week and park in the front row outside.. I go in, order my drink and then use the bathroom. When I come out to get my coffee, I have this guy, in his late 40's, ask me: "is that your Jag parked out front?"

I reply: "yeah, why?"

He says: "that's funny..."

I then walk out front and see nothing is different about my parking.. So I reiterate "why is that funny?"

He sits there for a second and goes: "it's an outdated Jag with aftermarket wheels taking up two parking spots!"

I laugh for a second and reply: "you must be the proud owner of that '02 camry parked across from me."

Then I left.. And as I'm starting my outdated Jag with aftermarket wheels, I have a bystander give me a thumbs up as he walks out of Starbucks.

People are so jelly

Pay no attention to the haters. The more time passes by, the more I realize how timeless this design is. Just needs some minor cosmetics and modern touches to fit in with the "brand new" cars.

I have actually did some minor updates to it that turns the vehicle into something out of the dark night rises! Haha!

I will post some pics tomorrow..

Here is a small list:

-5% tint on all windows/ back windshield
-5% windshield strip tint
-Aluminum 16in wheels with 10 spokes (originals were bent)
-Headlamp, foglamp and taillamp black tint job (looks so bad ***!)

that might be the point that he was trying to make somewhat obliquely ... especially as it was in the front row.

Yeah, that's what I figured at first, until I saw I wasn't actually in both lanes :/

He also made it a point to criticize my ride

Agreed...

I always get positive feedback about my older Jaguar and in fact people are always surprised about its age and how well it looks...I suppose those of the few that have negative feedback I just block out...

If you park with your tires right on the line, rather than in the center of the slot, there will always be *somebody* out there who thinks you're taking up two spaces.

Take a look at your pic !

Tee hee hee. Couldn't resist ribbing you a bit, sorry !

Cheers

I have to agree. The guy probably said something only because of the way you were parked. Is the picture you posted when it was parked at the Starbucks? If not, then it looks like you must park over too far on one side of the space all the time. Nothing wrong with that if you stay within the lines. But if you are over the line or definitely in two spots at the same time I always find that a bit rude when I see that, no matter what kind of car it is. Not trying to pick on you, just my opinion...

It's also a good way to get your paint chipped by the door of the person who will always squeeze into any spot they can find in the front row.

I think I found the problem. You were at Starbucks.

Welcome to the forum Lavaman,

You should have been New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum to post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see.

That's a more serious oversight than taking up two parking bays!

Sadly, I find Jeremy Clarkson's quote about Jag-owners to be the general opinion by most people. "Oh, so you think you can get away with anything, because you've got a Jaaaaaag?"
I mostly get those condescending looks from guys my age, driving around in their tired old BMW 318's. I had an incident coming out of a shopping mall and into the car park, where I had parked on the only unoccupied spot; nearest the door. A young punk and his friends sitting outside in his VW 1995 Golf with faded paint and Focal-stickers in the back window pointed and laughed at me when I unlocked the car, and then asked me how lazy I could be, parking nearest to the door. Got annoyed and told him that I might be lazy, but at least I had class. - and drove away.
Ignorant haters be hating, don't bother with them.

Well I don't know what's available in your town but I like the local places and try to avoid the chains. As far as Starbucks goes, I think there's more status than flavor being sought there.

I think we should be more supportive of our new poster. It's not everyone that will openly admit that they go to Starburnt for a coffee. I mean, it's expensive, so it's got to be good, right?
