Hello fellow jag drivers,
Finally got me a Jag after wanting one for about 25 years, always said it would be my last car after owning so many "normal" cars.
Anyhow why am i confused i hear you all ask? having gotten a nice looking and good running car i thought i would try to pre empt any of the usual problems so i have changed all filters ,air flow thingy and have just ordered and got a new EGR valve this is were i,m confused the one i have got is what all the places i could look at say is the correct one for my car but it is not what is on my car at the moment the one on my car has a round looking valve part on the side but the new one has an oval shaped part and a small hole that looks like it needs a pipe/screw part maybe, my reg is M111 MLK if any body could advise i would be very greatful.

You haven't given us much information on the car- like model ? year ? engine ? All your reg tells us is it is a Jaguar ! Clearly a diesel as it has an EGR valve, but you do need to tell us more; sorry.

it's a 2006 x type saloon se 2.2d 155 hp
6 speed manual

Why not make it easier for yourself and get this thread moved to the X-type forum, the one for your car.

The very early 2.2d had a vacuum controlled egr valve with a 3 pin height sensor.
This was then updated to a motorised egr valve that had no vacuum pipe.

If yours has a round disc with a single vacuum pipe connected to it, you need the earlier version.

Just realised that I am 6 miles away from you !
