Hi All,
Had my 2.5 auto X Type for only a couple of weeks, already love it, but have two things I need advice on; 1 there is a very faint "purring" sound from behind the dash with everything switched off and the key removed. It seems to go on for about half an hour before it stops. What is it please?
2. small lights on bottom rear corner of doors do not seem to work with doors open even with lights switched on, is there any common problem with these. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Chris.

 

Chris, the buzzing sound that you are hearing from the dash is the blower that senses the temp inside of the car. IT will run for a short period of time after the car is turned off. Try turning off the A/C-heating system before shutting off the car and then see if the noise stops.

As for the door lights, have you changed the light bulbs in the doors (or even verified that some are there)? Odds are, because you lost both of them, you either have bad bulbs in that location or the previous owner didn't like having them there and pulled the bulbs. If you need further troubleshooting advice, let me know and then I can give you checks to make with a multimeter to isolate the problem.

 

Thanks Chris, I will check all that out tomorrow as near midnight here now. I have not checked the bulbs as both were out I thought it must be a fuse or something like a faulty connector. I will let you know how I get on. Chris

 

I thought the door lights at the bottom were reflectors. I never recall mine ever turning on! Mine is an 07....

 

I feel a bit of a fool now! You are absolutely right aluni, my model does not have the lights they are indeed reflectors. Chris, Noise behind dash does appear to be blower motor. So all ok now. Thanks Guys. Chris
