Potholes took their toll

Hi all,

Cracked both rims on the driver's side last night. Any suggestions on sourcing OEM replacements, or a suitable aftermarket set?

Thanks!
Glenn

GK, your best bet is to look on a place like E-bay or Carparts.com. Hard to say what you will find there and for what cost.

As for aftermarket, the sky is the limit. Granted, odds are, you will be able to get a set of 4 aftermarket rims for what most people are going to want for the 2 OEM rims. So, it is going to cost you about the same either way.

I would suggest aftermarket rims.

I went through 5 Aguilla (sp?) rims before I purchased aftermarket.

When the first 3 were replaced (Cleveland, OH winters), the dealership told me that they had already replaced over 200 rims that winter across all Jaguar models. A letter to Jaguar about an evident build quality issue fell on empty ears.

I currently have 5 factory rims in my possession and if I recall correctly, 2 are bent but still hold air, 2 are cracked and 1 is my full size spare.

91stealthes, I agree with the build quality comment. Both rims are cracked in the exact same spot, two inches away from the valve stem.

I think I just may go the after-market route, even used rims from a junk yard are in the 2-300 range.

Thanks for the advice, all!

I don't know what style of rim you want, but I bought the Momo Winter Pro wheels and haven't had any problems with them, and they won't break the bank. I am sure that many others can chime in as well with their selections.

Here is a link with the wheel on the on the car. They also have the Momo Winter 2 that you can see on the car: http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/int...8037&rc=COSINT

rims

What kind of rims do you have? I have a few different kinds here. Depending where your at, shipping is the killer on rims cause of weight. Let me know.

Thanks,
The Dr

Hi Doctor,

Do you have any Aguillas? I like the look and would like to potentially run them in the Summer again. I wouldn't need 4 and would be interested if the price is right. I could potentially pick them up on our next trip back to LI.

91stealthes, I was looking at those exact same rims. My friends convinced me otherwise. Wound up finding a great deal at TireRack for rims and tires. I'll clean up the three usable rims and post them in the For Sale section.

Thanks all for the suggestions
