Pulley stops moving
Sometimes when my car is idle or even driving i hear a click sound from the engine , i checked my engine when it was idle and when I heard the click noise the air conditioning pulley had completely stopped moving but the belt was still moving over it. Other than that the air conditioning works great and you can see the clutch working too
What causes it to stop fully? I am changing the belt and tensioner soon but if this is happening the air conditioning pulley then maybe something there needs to be replaced.

The AC pulley is a 2 piece clutch unit the exterior face only rotates when the electrical clutch is energized and then compressor is ON. When the compressor is shut off the face stops rotating. The center pully is still turning or you would have a lot of smoke and noise, that is what happens when the clutch fails.

I think jag V8 might be right. I had recently changed my EGR valve because the last one seen better days and gave up, but my new one mysteriously stopped working and the car was in limp mode and 5 mins later the power came back and my car took off until it cut out again. Also ive done a leak off test and basically all my injectors failed but i have taken them all apart and clean them and they were perfect. i even replaced the control valve and tested the nozzles and still they seem to fail. this made me think that the timing must just be off. Funnily enough the timing going off is a symptom of a bad PCM (ECU). I have a check engine light too that comes and goes but i thought this was due to me blanking off the new EGR that ive another problem with. I will look into this, maybe i can replace the ECU with a ford modeo ecu and then recode the injectors with the Fordiag software

dell it would be easier if i showed a video or had an audio clip of it happening, but basically when its poor the car sounds like its under pressure and the whole sound of the car ticking over drops, not close enough to stalling but close enough to be concerned, if i had to audio clips of normal and of the poor and played you each one separately you would almost think its two different cars. I think jagV8 could be on to something. ill update in a few weeks if i get it sorted or anything changes.

The PCM knows it's engaging the compressor, which is an extra load, so revs up to handle it.
