rear springs and diff....
Hey all.
So yesterday I broke down and pulled the Jag into the garage to start the spring project. I replaced the brakes, springs and shocks on the rear. And while I was at it, I replaced the lube in the rear diff. My experince was much the same as others here. Using the hand-pump method, I was able to remove about 3/4 of a liter of fluid. Nothing more. It was black and VERY burnt. I replaced it with Royal Purple's 75w/140 lube. (I had no idea it would actually be PURPLE! :D) I was able to get about 1.5 litres in before it started to run out. (Of course, I spilled some too...) So much for the "Non-Serviceable" part of Jag's plan. |
RE: rear springs and diff....
Where on the rear diff is the drain/fill plug! I meant to look under there!

NIce job! Stock shocks and springs?

RE: rear springs and diff....
ORIGINAL: racerx82 NIce job! Stock shocks and springs? And I put-in the "RedStuff" pads. On the front, I'll be replacing the rotors as well as putting in the "redstuff' pads. That's what's been delaying the project, as I've had a VERY difficult time dealing with AutoPartsWarehouse.com on the new EBC rotors. Have they shipped or haven't they shipped.... every day it's a new answer to that question. I'm not certain that the english word "shipped" has a direct translation to indian, or pakistani, or whatever the native language at their call center is..... I finally ordered some from another source on friday, and I'm currently waiting on them now too. Who knows... if I'm unsuccessful at getting APW to cancel the order, I could end-up with a set for sale! [:@] and JAGXV6: the fill plug on the rear diff is about 1/3 of the way up the rear cover. Can't miss it. It's a square driver, the size of your 3/8 ratchet. (allthough I had a B*t*h of a time finding a ratchet that would fit in there, because of the size of the ratchet-head, so I finally used a 'wobbly') |
RE: rear springs and diff....
Thanks! So you just fill it about up to the fill plug?
I need to do that and the transfer case! |
RE: rear springs and diff....
well, that's how 'I' did it. just fill it 'til it starts to dribble out... then plug the hole!
