Default rear tire wear

03 X sport
I have read the threads on links and I can't get a handle on what causes what.
My tires lean IN on top and wear on the inside. What link/bushing do I need to replace? If I can get a specific parts name I can fix it, there are the rear lower, upper, ect.
I am not a suspension guru so any help is appreciated, Thank you all in advance if you have pics. or drawings you can share OR point me to a sight.
Bill

Bill, if you can get an alignment and your tires are still leaning in, then your upper control arm for the rear of the car is bad and you need a new one. You can do as the one article that is reference says or you can get a new arm from the factory.

If you get an alignment done and they say that they can not fix the tow of the rear wheels, then your lower/forward arm is bad for the rear suspension. Both of these arms are known to wear out over time. They run about $100 an arm (so, $400 total plus any labor if you pay someone to do it for you).

If you need more help, let me know. I have done a little bit of playing back there trying to figure out what can be done to make things better.

Also, as cars age, the springs settle or "sag" a bit.

Suspension, such as on our Jaguar X-Types, is designed to INCREASE negative camber (top of tire leans in) with each inch of suspension travel upward. Typically, about 0.7 degrees per inch of travel.

This means: If your car sits lower than it did originally, it will have more negative camber.

Think about it this way, under hard cornering, the car leans a bit. The suspension on the outside (of the corner) compresses. For the tires to remain "flat" on the road, the suspension must add negative camber.
