Rear window trim bubbling up.
Hey dudes,
The lower black trim on my rear windows is bubbling up by where the small window and large window meet on both rear doors. Dealer told me there is metal under that forms the trim and it is rusting. Can you guys confirm al th the part numbers I will need are C2S42737 and C2S42738? Also, how do they install? Do they just slide forward or backward and up and out? Do I need to remove the inside door panel? Thanks |
I need to know how to remove old ones and put in the new ones - please help.
I have the parts on the way |
Hi Humy, I have just replaced these on my X-Type, very easy to do. Mine were bubbling up in exactly the same place. You have the correct part numbers. To fit just wind the widows right down, grip the rubbers with finger and thumb near door hinge end. Pull straight up gently, it should come away easily. Gradually work your way along to the other end. Clean strip on top of door and start fitting new part first at lock end of door being very careful not to bend new part. Work your way along to the other end slowly finally pushing it down tight. Wind the window back up and thats it! I put a thin layer of grease in the cut out part thats fits round the strip between the windows. This may slow down the corrosion that causes the bubbling. Best of luck!

Bubbled rear window seal
Hi just been reading threads regarding bubbled rear window seal.My 54 plate xtype sport has the same problem and been trying to find outlet where I can purchase a new one.I just want the bottom seal so I would be grateful for any feedback.
Many thanks Pete |
Exactly the same on my 2002 plate X-Type - not bad enough to need doing yet but I had been wondering if they were easily replaceable or would need repairs done - thankyou for the info it's good to know when the time comes its an easy and hopefully cheap fix
