Hey guys,

I've searched and looked all over the forum the best I could to no avail. I recently purchased a 2002 X-Type 2.5 with a bad engine. I removed the engine from the vehicle and bought a used engine with 44k miles to go back in. I want to freshen up the gaskets first though before I do. My question is are the engine gaskets the same between the 2.5 and 3.0? It seems that gaskets are more readily available through the aftermarket for the 3.0. I'm trying to avoid the dealership if at all possible and maybe save a couple bucks while I'm at it. Thanks for your help!

 

The gaskets are the same, and even though lots of them are labeled as fitting the 3.0 only.

I can tell you that the oil pan, valve cover, intake, manifold, throttle body, and water pump gaskets are exactly the same.
