Recently acquired 2005 x-type manual tranny problems

Hello everybody, im glad to finally be a jaguar owner, sadly for my first day the experience wasnt quite good, i bought a 2005 xtype 3.0 awd with manual tranny...everything was perfect until later today when going home..my car would start kicking at around 2k rpms in 1st and second gear and wouldnt really speed up after that, once i went into 3rs 4th or 5th, the problem would be gone...whats the problem?..i am amazed this happened the same day i bought the car.

Hey! If you haven't returned your Jag, welcome to the Club! :icon_bricks:

In seriousness, it sounds like your car went into "limp home mode". Curious if you had any check engine light on before, after or while this was happening? Limp home mode in a manual is no fun and feels like everything is broke! If this is the case it is more than likely just a vacuun leak of sorts (there are two very common leaks on the x-type). We need more info. You'd probably get more of a response if you intro yourself properly as well.

Typical bad dealer trick. Clear all the codes and re-set the ECU so the car drives well enough for a test drive or two. Once the system cycles, the problems service. Always turn the car on/off multipule times before purchasing.

If you can get the codes read and post here there is probably a 99.9% chance you can get your car back up and running as expected.
