recommended battery for Jaguar Xtype 3L petrol
What is the recommended battery for Jaguar Xtype 3L petrol.
Currently I'm using a 12V/560 and it flickers light interiorly. |
Keleb, you want a battery with atleast 800 CCA rating. The 560 CCA battery that you have is too small for the car, hence the flickering that you are seeing. As for brand, just a little hint, atleast in the US, there are only 2 battery manufacturers and all the brands that you see are simply one of those two with a different sticker on the outside. So, do some shopping around and see what sort of deals you can find. What separates an expensive battery from a cheap battery normally is just the warrantee that comes with the battery. So, decide how long your batteries tend to last and get a warrantee based on that.

Keleb, any time you deeply discharge a starting battery (the kind in your car), you run the risk of it not returning. So, yes, it is very possible that if you ran the car with a non-functional alternator, you may have damaged the battery to the point it needs replacing. Starting batteries are just that, for starting. They are not really meant to be deeply discharged, especially over and over. That will causes permanent damage to them. Kinda like a deep cycle battery is not meant to be maintained at 100% charge all the time (like a starting battery is). Each type of battery has a purpose and a desired way it should be used.

When you change the battery, take the opportunity to check the leads. The ground lead (item 7) is known to gradually break up at the ground connection giving starting issues. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...dede9e5015.jpg Please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some information about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. It turns out i have been using a deep cycle battery.
Damn!!... |
Thank you very much, for your cordial answers. Much love for Jaguar community.
One last clarity, is it possible for the low amps to cause the car to misfire, because i had a misfire after the incident of the dead alternator and not charging. |
Again the battery that I'm finding is only the a big one in terms of length. It doesn't even fit in the battery bucket.
|
Keleb, yes, you can get misfires when the battery is low because the coils are not able to spark as well as the can and this causes an incomplete firing of the cylinder and this can cause the plugs to carbon up, leading to even worse spark.
As for finding a battery, there should be lots of choices that should work for you. Out of curiousity, are you looking at Type 94R batteries? That is what goes in the X-Type. |
I'm looking for the right battery. I Have found the saleperson with a Xtype recommended battery. Will buy it and see
|
Here is it gentleman. Is it the right one.

94R, that one is still too small (CCA), why not just get the correct one?
