Smile Rocker panels, rotting & rusted.

Hello everyone. I went to obtain a
Safety Certificate so I can register my
New (2002) X Type. The mechanic said
he could not issue Certificate because
the welds were broken where the
rocker panel meets the floor under
the door sill area. I was hoping to
find an inexpensive welder to tack
the two back together but, I couldn't!
I took the car to a body shop and was
quoted $300 cdn. for the job. As it
turned out the rocker edge was rusted
out and needed a new piece made &
welded in. Nobody called to give me a
New estimate so the work was done
and the Owner agreed to the Original
Price! He said it would have been $600
to $700 including painting & sealing.
Attached is a photo prior to painting.
Thanks to Jose @ ASC auto body in
Hamilton, Ontario, Canada!! 👍💪✌️

Hi Larry (nice name)

You may want to look into getting an oil spray in your rockers. It helps the rust from coming back. I spray my cars twice a year.
