Snow tires and wheels are ugly

Had to put the wee little 18s on for the snow :(

Chknhwk will like these, the fronts (18x8) only weigh 18 lbs and rears (18x10) are 21 lbs. 225/40/18 Goodyear Ultragrips on all four corners. Acceleration in the snow is awesome when I have traction.

Even uglier however is looking at a crumpled-up Jaguar after you've pinballed off of several guard rails because you didn't have good winter grip!

Jeremy, do X-Types have the same bolt pattern as Porsche's, or did you have to modify the hubs?

Nope, adapters from Motorsport Technologies. They do awesome work - like the same quality as H&R, KW and others with German TUeV approval.

I dig it!!!! Love the collection of Porsche wheels you've got in the garage.

I must have missed it in the other thread but is that boot plinthe the UK version or is it 08+ ?

.....ewwww snow. Note to anybody driving ANYthing in the snow: Falken RT615s are a very very very very bad choice for snowy conditions. I hate living in it but man I can't wait to start taking the Jag up to the mountains for some snowboarding this season. :D

exexpat 11-23-2010 10:22 PM

2008/2009 version of the plinth. you like?

ufoz8mycow 11-24-2010 10:03 AM

I do like it.. After seeing a couple of sport package X types with the body colored plinth recently I've decided that it kind of cheapens the look of the car so yeah, the chrome looks good.

Jaggyx 11-24-2010 10:22 PM

These are actually my favorite on your car.

WOW put those on, I'm pretty sure those will be my favorite. What size are they?

They are 18x7 I think, but they don't have snow tires on them. I take some level of satisfaction in knowing that I have a set of coveted BBS in the crawl space of my house and really no desire to put them on the car. Most people new to European cars (or pure in thought) think I'm nuts, but the last thing I want is a predictable set of wheels.

Jaggyx 11-25-2010 11:34 AM

you wanna sell them?

j_bond 11-25-2010 11:41 AM

Exepat, I LOVE the aggressive offset of the rears!!!!!! I want, that setup more than I want Vesper..... looks amazing! I may have to get some 15mm spacers for my rears now

No, I'll need to sell the car with them in about 2 years.

Vesper? The spacers on the rear now are 40mm and the wheel is 18x10 ET50 with 225/40/18.

Did not see 'Casino Royale?'
Upon looking at my car this evening, I think a 10mm spacer will suffice for mine, but the rubbing issue will be there...

j_bond 11-25-2010 09:02 PM

I really like the new trunk plinth. I think I'll order mine now :)

Ahh, quite, I recall now.

Yes, I think it'll look good on your car. When are you getting springs?

Jaggyx 11-25-2010 11:02 PM

I thought Jbond had springs?

You might be right. I had about an inch of gap up front and rears on top of tire with springs - thought his looked a bit higher, but it could be the 19s or I'm so used to airbags and driving with all four corners slightly tucking. Apologies, j_bond, if I have erred in my height assessment. Your car is beautiful either way and the Audi reps were something I almost bought for my C70 before I sold it (good choice).

I picked up a brand new set of the 18" BBS Melbournes as well. :-) Gorgeous rims.

I intend to use them as my summer set. Jeremy, do you know if the Melbournes require special tire valves, and if so, where to purchase them? Someone had mentioned that on the Jag Forum a while back, but I don't know how true the statement was.
