spare wheel well

hi all, can anyone please tell me should there be a polystyrene panel on top of the spare wheel under the boot carpet as mine hasn't got one and the boot carpet sags with weight on it

Stu, there is a plastic wheel that goes on top of the bolt that you slide in to hold the wheel down as I recall. I got past that by putting a full size spare in my car and that causes the carpeting to sit right on the tire and there is no sagging now. I guess it also helps that I am running an oversized tire too.

yes got the plastic wheel thingy bolting the spare over the jack but it just seems like there should be something that's a packing on top of the stupid space saver to fill the void, been looking for a full size spare but they are going for daft money on the bay as I need a belize and there are not many available

I am having trouble here too. Dr. Dome sent me the hold down bolt, but for the life of me I can't seem to figure it out. Looks like I may be missing some kind of platform the spare tire should be sitting on. Anyone have a photo of their spare tire properly mounted in their boot?

In my X Type that has a full size spare wheel, the board rests on the sidewall of the tyre, but in my XK8 that has a space saver, the cranked bolt that holds the spare wheel in place, is of such a length/height that the board rests on it to give support in the centre.

after a problem few weeks i am begining to see day light at the end of the tunnel. i have been in a auction for a jag 17 inch alloy wheel and its the same design as on the car. £38 pounds including postage. and looks like my error of the last week a 16 inch alloy is going onto a pizza delivery van for £50 pounds so for once in my life i am in front.all i have to do is get into the last cd changer which is stuck but as i opened up the last one i know how to get my cds out and hopefully get it going again.
so its going to be a good week ?
