stumbling, sputtering and dying on acceleration

My girlfriend drives my 2002 X-Type. Yesterday on her way home when she pulled away from a stop light it started sputtering and stumbling and wouldnt hardly run. She pulled over and called me. I came and drove it home. As I pulled into the driveway, it completely died. I put it in park, sat there for a second, and restarted it. It ran fine. Im nervous about her getting stranded in it. What should I check? My only guesses are a clogged fuel filter or a fuel pump on its way out...any thoughts?

Try to turn it on, and look for a check engine light. If it shows get the car to a shop who can tell you what code it is.
If you dont see the light on the ODO, pop the hood and listen, listen for vaccuum leaks, or weird clicking
could be an oil problem. try to replace the filter and see if that helps. when was ur last oil change?
make sure you have gas and ur guage isnt broken [sm=headbang.gif]

It is overdue for an oil change. I looked at the sticker last night and its been almost 6000 miles since she changed the oil. Its going in today to have it changed but how would that cause it to run rough and die?

It did give a code but it is now gone. The car is running fine as of this morning. Hopefully it fixed itself.

No such thing..But there is O ring that leak in the Throttle control valves that will cause the problem you described too..
