Subwoofer replacement- wire color confusion
Hello -
I was able to replace the stock subs in my car thru the small grill on the rear- without having to remove the entire shelf. The new subs are in there, but I am confused because the wires to each stock sub are red and black to one (assuming red is + and black is -) and blue and yellow to the other. This does not appear on my electrical diagram anywhere. Any help appreciated.

Spike, this is where a 9VDC battery is going to come in handy. You should be able to attach the red and black wires to the 9 VDC battery and then if you measure the blue and yellow wires, you should see +9 and -9 VDC. The other thing that you may notice is if you watch as you apply the battery, you may see the speaker jump a little bit in either the in or out direction. As long as both speakers move in the same direction, then you should be good. What you don't want is one speaker moving out as the other moves in. The speakers will actually cancel each other and give you very little bass.
