T-Pipe leaking please help
 

The t-Pipe hose thats connected to thermo is leaking coolant cant tell exactly where except its from on top right under airbox. rubbed finger around rubber hose and it didnt have fluid on it but when i rub under the platic pipe that the hose is connected to i get the fluid on my hand.? PLease help

Hi: Mine developed a split on the underside just where the downpipe goes vertically toward the thermostat. I cut an old piece of giant radiator hose and clamped it in place with some giant clamps and it has been holding for three years now. Eventually it will have to be properly looked after but I drive it all over the arizona desert with AC on and only occasionally have to top it off. The change out of that part is awkward and time consuming but many on here have accomplished it. --Tom in AZ

Hi:
This is a pretty common problems with our X-types. I'm working right now to try and build a metal upper radiator hose, but as of this point I haven't got it done.
There really are two things you can do,
1. Buy a new upper radiator hose and install it. Not really super hard, but it's time consuming (3 hours give or take).
2. J B Weld, sand where it's leaking to get a tight seal, apply the JB weld, then cut a radiator hose in two and strap it on top of the J B weld with hose clamps.

I've did the first one 2 times now, (my car and my friends). But, I don't know that doing the second option would be a bad idea. The second idea definitely is cheaper.
