This may not be as bad as it may seem. If they buy them both, maybe they'll get the ball rolling on helping Jaguar and Land Rover get an established dealer network. With both being British brands, I don't see why there aren't more Jaguar/Land Rover dealerships.

I do hope that Ford keeps a stake in the two companies...

If as common sense dictates, this is in an effort to raise funds / cut losses, surely it would only be a minority shareholding? What would be the point?

yes, i think that for 1.5 billion $, ford would have very little -if any- stock left.
one "good" thing about tata is that it's a huge industrial conglomerate that owns anything and everything in india and abroad, with tons of $, and extremely unlikely to get into financial trouble anytime soon. if they have their priorities straight in pouring money into r&d for new jags, image will be the only problem -but who cares as long as the product is genuine and good?

Could be the end of opening the hood and finding "Motorcraft" stamped on everything. Anyone knows what the Tata logo looks like?

Well considering we're using their parts bin, I hope Ford keeps some ownership in the company so TaTa can still have access in order to keep prices from skyrocketing and returning Jaguar to profitability.

Why would you want to keep Jaguar from returning to profitability?? Assuming of course they ever were....

It could actually make parts less expensive. Ford holds a pretty tight handle on what us aftermarket guys can get our hands on. It would be pretty cool if Tata decided to stick to suppling the current models and allowing the aftermarket boys chase the old cars they don't want to deal with any more. Kind of like the parts houses do with the Big 3 cars. Would you go to the dealer to buy an alternator for your 1993 Chevy or just run down the local parts house? The dealers don't want to stock all those "old" parts. Could bring prices down....dare to dream....

LOL, yea that's what I meant. For some reason, my brain, fingers, and eyes aren't communicating my point very well...I need a break from the interweb.

I hear you on the indians!!! Supposedly the people working for hsbc (best buy credit card) I seriously had to say "I'm sorry I couldn't understand what you said!" at least 15-20 times-NO JOKE!!! Man I was starting to get really irritated and the worst part it wasn't just one random person of that decent my wife talked to a different one last time![:@]
They go away from ford I'd imagine the resale would go up and thus I wouldn't be able to afford one...oh well I guess I'd just have to go back to american cars...

Y'all are over reacting big time! Drama, drama, drama. On the surface of the compay, you would see no difference. How would this change oredering parts? How many folks, besides those in the UK call for parts and reach someone with a British accent???? Seriously, guys. This would only change the inner workings of the highest levels. Even if production moved to India, you wouldn't see the difference in the show room, service, or parts section.

Next time you buy a part, find the country of origin. Very few are UK made. Most read "made in Turkey, Germany, India, China, Isreal." Or, my personal favorite "hecho in Mexico." But that one looks best on a cold beer!

Yeah I guess!!! No need to rush into things...well see if ford would sell them anyways...

As far as american cars go...After driving my best friends 03 bonneville pimped out and my sisters 04 grand prix gt I can surely say I love european cars more than the american counterpart...don't get me wrong I love my stangs and older car and trucks but there is nothing like the driving experience I get out of my jag!!! Without getting a sports car or special edition american car I can't quite think of a car that has four doors and feels like the jag!
