Default Very fun 4 hour drive in 3.0 Xtype

I have never really driven our XType on highway for an extended time. Today I took a 4 hour round trip drive and I had a blast. My wife usually drives it occasionally for errands and around town and I rarely use it. I had no idea how responsive that 3.0 engine is at highway speeds to pass or maneuver in traffic. I plugged my iPad into the Pioneer DVD I recently installed and cranked driving tunes and was also impressed with the factory speaker performance. What a fun drive that 4 hour trip was! That little car is a pleasure when it’s opened up and pushed a little.

It doesn't matter what you drive; when it all comes together it's one of life's true pleasures.

One year ago I Signed the dealer's paperwork, left the lot in N.J. and drove non stop 2,400+ miles home to Utah through the last blizzard of the year. All the way through Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming (got stopped as freeways were closed) to Utah. Stopped to fuel, pee, grab a hot dog, coffee. 50 hours non stop and mine drove like a 4 balled Tomcat :-) :-) :-)

When I bought mine I found it over the internet and it was in Springfield, Missouri, which is about 500 miles from where I live in Wisconsin. Kind of scary as I never did that before, but got a cheap round trip flight and flew down there and figured it it didn't work out I could get home and if it did I would just eat the ticket. Worked out and drove it back over two days. Within a few minutes after I left the lot I knew I made the right decision. Was a great way to "bond" with the car and to start learning about it. Drove for about four hours and found a cheap motel to stay overnight and left early in the morning. Was in early fall and a beautiful Saturday. Super road trip and very zen-like. Will never forget it.
