W0133-1890065 - Brake Booster Bushing
 

Anybody know of a reasonable priced source or substitute for this Brake Booster Rubber bushing? W0133-1890065
I can't believe that the asking price is $24.00 to $38.00.
This part or something that will work has to exist that is in the $5.00 to $10.00 range. (I'll keep searching...)

For comparison, I found this BMW booster bushing, ATE 34336765316, priced from $0.99 to $5.00 (Shipping for one item still tends to be between $6 and $10.)
This confirms that even at $13.32 the jaguar bushing is pure profit for someone, and these bushings probably cost less than $0.50 to manufacture.
I found "Help kit P/N 801191", (2 booster adapter gaskets for $5 to $10 + shipping.) - Purchased one for $5.00 off of Fleabay with free shipping.
If I can find the ATE one for reasonable shipping, I'll purchase one of them to test.
- The quarter shown in the ATE image below has an OD approx .95". My Stock bushing was approx 1.1" Visually, the ATE appears to be about the same OD. I believe that most BMWs use Bosch brake boosters, so there is a high probability the ATE part will work

If either works, I'll get this part added to the X-type parts list for compatible parts.

Just my 2 cents but brake systems are one area where I don't try to skimp on parts to save a few pennies, when failure could cost me thousands. Go for the correct OEM parts and then you can be sure that the form, fit and function is as designed and your safety is preserved. In the overall scheme of things whats $10.00

Something to consider. The demand on this bushing appears to be low. Therefore it makes me wonder how many years the OEM bushings have been sitting on a shelf. Gradually hardening. Who is to say that one pays $30+ dollars and doesn't have the OEM part quickly fail? I'd rather find a higher volume substitute that I know is newer and a soft compliant elastomer.
So far, I have not seen any of the OEM brake booster bushings packaged in individual plastic bags. This says to me there is a higher probability the bushings are sitting in an open box in inventory, aging slowly.
If this bushing really was only used on our particular X-type Bosch Vacuum boosters, then my trust in an off the shelf NOS OEM part goes way down.

in 2014-5, I had a bad experience with my 1999 Oldsmobile van's brake vacuum fitting in the intake manifold. I purchased 3 OEM rubber bushings in a little over a year. After complaining to my GM dealer, they did some research and found out that the part was no longer made and the rubber parts they were selling were last made in 2002. I ended up making my own bushing and high temp RTVd it in place. No more leaks and rotting rubber part.

Forgot to state that my brake booster bushing appears to be dry-rotting and has split part way down the middle allowing the booster to intermittently lose vacuum. I sealed the leak with RTV for now.

I went ahead and ordered one of the ATE bushings. Since they are used on BMW Bosch brake boosters, high probability the booster housing is the same thickness sheet metal. Just hope the hole has the same diameter.

All of the bushings I ordered have arrived. After my post about 2 possibilities as a lower cost replacement, I found a Volvo Bosch bushing and check valve, where I could see that the bushing has the same MFG P/N on the part. (Figures that a Volvo spare part will work.) Exact dimensional replacement, and I put it in and fits perfectly.

The Volvo part come in a Bosch box, P/N 270596 I paid Less than $5.00 + less than $5.00 shipping.
