Default Water Ingress in Passenger Footwell

Hi,

Whenever the weather gets wet, I get a large amount of water dripping down into the passenger footwell to the point where the carpet is literally soaking wet. It seems to come down behind the glove box and visibly drips!

Is this a know fault is X-Types and is there any way to stop it? Any help would be appreciated. It's a 3.0 litre Premium Sport Automatic, 56 plate.

Cheers,
Adam.

Afraid so. Water from windshield is supposed to drain into channel that's formed in the plastic shroud at base of windshield. Over time the shroud deforms allowing water to enter under it. Water then gets into cabin air filter housing and ultimately, into cabin. Jaguar offers a fix that doesn't always work: it's basically a thick, sticky membrane that is applied over the cabin housing to redirect water to the corner drain. I bought it but wasn't convinced it would work. I used a piece of lead flashing, like what is used on chimneys, and formed it to fit better. It works.

Remove the wiper arms and then remove the plastic shroud (there are 5 or so button clips holding it in place). You'll then see the cabin air filter housing. Apply the sticky tape or some kind of formable shroud of your own design. If you search on this topic you'll see the Technical Service Bulletin as well as the part number for the sticky tape. You might as well replace the cabin air filter while it's accessible.

Good luck.

No problem. You should take care of this issue since the ECU (computer) is located in the passenger footwell and the wiring harness and connector may be in the path of the water flow. You want to keep this area dry.

Good luck.

Thanks a lot! I have the same problem. Greetings from Croatia!

In reference to water getting into the passenger side through the pollen filter opening, is the installation of the pollen filter housing shield, (Technical Bulletin XT501-08) free as if under warranty, or does the dealer charge for this modification?

Does anyone have a source for the water shield p/n C2S29536 (shield left hand drive)? I’m drawing a blank. Ref: TB XT501-08

or does someone have an illustration (size dimensions material) to make one? The bulletin information is very limited.

Disregard my last post. I’ve located a couple of parts dealers ($45-$60). Now trying to determine who has the lowest shipping. Most are 50% the cost of the part. Yes, I’m just complaining

Ok, I just found an “amended” TB XT501-08 reference the water shield. The amended TB lists a different part number than the original TB: C2s29537 vs C2s29536. It says to “destroy” the previous XT501-08.
Does anyone know what the difference is between the two parts? I ordered the part from the first TB (C2s29536). Both parts are listed for left hand drive.

Hello guys. Just noticed a few days ago that after washing the car I’m getting some water dripping down into the passenger foot well area. Can anyone please post up a detailed description or video on how to fix this please. Thx in advance

NYCJAG2006, you’re experiencing the same issue many of us are experiencing. The above list TB describes the procedures to install the Water Shield to the pollen filter housing. I haven’t discovered a video on the procedure. I was able to procure the shield for about $58. Just waiting to buy the wiper arm puller, then I’m going to try to install the shield.
the instructions leave a lot of questions on the install and what it looks like if properly installed. Not photos of the install or what it should look like
