Im on the verge of buying the intake kit on Jaguarxp, but just thought id ask the question again if anyone here has got one and how it has worked out for you?
Any input will be greatly appreciated!

I have more than an mazing 13hp as standard! I assume they mean additional, but even then on what engine 2.0, 2.5 or 3.0. If this is the attention to detail with the advert I'd be wary of the product.

 

It looks like a quality product but I seriously doubt you'd get 13 hp, and definately not 13 hp at the wheels. If they are so confident about the exact 13 hp increase ask them to send you a copy of the dyno chart proving it. I could see maybe 5 hp, thats about it. If our cars were turbocharged or supercharged we would greatly benefit from a high flow intake, but NA cars it can only do so much.

 

I have tried their new model but it simply will not work in my 3.0 manual. The tubing they include pretty much blocks all airflow at idle even if you consistently feed it gas.

I don't even want to think about the horrible things that my car (with less than 10k miles) was doing when I put this intake on my car (f**king XP *******s)! Let's just say it was far worse than a simple CEL.

The mounting brackets didn't match up as they didn't realize that parts of the engine bay changed after 2004. Also, I asked them if they had even tested this intake on a 3.0 manual and they said no but they had on a 2.5. That's an entirely different engine JaguarXP!!! These guys will tell you anything to buy one of their intakes even though they are completely aware that the chances are above 95% that you will want your money back.

However, if you can get it to work it really enhances the performance. The X-Type has very restricted airflow off the lot. It will really do you good if you like to run your car consistently at high speeds but won't do much for low end acceleration.

The only problem with these intakes is getting them to work without triggering a CEL. The only surefire way to do this is to reflash the ECU completely (not just a piggy back system). The downside is a simple air intake mod will end up costing several grand.

 

I've looked at that intake a few times and have been considered buying it. However, I would hate to trigger a CEL, as I hate having to look at that orange light in any car when it comes on.

I have the 2.5, so I'm assuming it'd fit with no problem, but if the gains aren't going to be noticable, then I won't even bother.

Also you can easily modify the stock air box to be less restrictive and save yourself a fortuneand get something that works better:-

Thanx for the help guys, after reading what u have sed about it, im not goin to get it. But i am goin to take a closer look at the mod for the air box

 

I bought one for my X300, and now I'm regretting it. Not only did the bracket not fit my car, but one of the big hose clamps was missing (the kit only has about six pieces, how can anybody get that wrong?). So I returned it right away (a couple of months ago) and they're saying they've credited my card, but the refund hasn't showed up. I've asked for some proof of a credit, but now I'm going to call them.

Why pussyfoot around with air box modifications. Just get rid of the
whole air box and go with an open element K&N filter!

Improving air flow and free flowing exhausts are all great but you
need to add more fuel or you are just going to lean out the engine
and blow things up. There are no magic parts.

 

I just checked my credit card, and JaguarXP finally gave me a refund this morning. And I checked my records, it wasn't two months ago, it was five.

 

Youre not the first person I heard took ages to get a refund off them

 

i dont know how they arefor the x-type's. i got one for my 3.0 s-type form jaguarXP they suck for customer service they sent me a broken intake pipe twice, and it took them like 2 months to get the new one. As for the filter it is absolute junk the thing come's of like every other day i don't know how much engine damage it did from it and for the mounting also junk. i got a new universal k&N filters to fit the intake pipe. works good now. i say make ur own i am going to go that way from now on. they are to many company's out their making $$$ on junk products.

 

Agree with Buck. Other forums/threads are full of stories of CELs code problems with little talk of improved performance with the aftermarket intake. I've come across some of Karl Wolf's instructions and comments on other forums and he seems very knowlegable and reliable.

 

Got mine installed. nothing but all lights on the dash, check engine, check egr, etc.
leave the stock, you can't tell the difference.
