Window switch help please
What’s up guys. My drivers main window switch is acting up. Only the drivers window switch. Feels like it’s loose or disconnected possibly. Window still goes up and down. However I don’t want the window to get stuck in the open position. Is there any fix for just one switch in the main window control switch on the drivers door ? Or do I need an entire new switch ? Thx.

NYC, I would llook on e-bay and see if you can pick up the switch complex. You should be able to pick up a switch complex for fairly cheap. May want to even look at say a Ford Fusion and/or a LIncoln LS and see if the switch complex is the same between the models.

If it were my switch/problem, I would look for the root cause...
Loose connector? (not very likely) Corroded connector pins? (likely) Corroded contact surfaces inside of the switch? (likely) |
Seems to be just the drivers window switch itself. It’s been feeling weird the last week. When I go to raise the window it seems like the switch is loose and might pull out.

Ah, you mean the actual "lever" dedicated for the driver's window in that switch, which contains 4 window levers!? That would probably mean that a little "nibble", which holds the lever in place, has broken off. Well there might be a way to fix that, but I am not sure how long a fix of broken plastic would last, plus, you have to be very careful not to loose any part when opening that switch. You would most probably be able to create one working switch if you have 2 broken switches (as all you need is a new lever for the donor switch). But as you are unlikely to find such a donor switch, your best bet is indeed to buy a new switch. 1X43-14A132-BE E-Bay Australia shows one for AUD$80. But this would be for the RHD version for the X-Type and I am not sure, if it is identical to the LHD, which you have.

Same window switch packs for LHD as for RHD.

Yes, I remember now (as I think this window switch was one of the ones, which were in my electric-design responsibility): The reason as to why it is the same for LHD and RHD is, that that, what makes it different (the outer bezel), is an integrated part of the door trim.

Ok. My X has both front and back power windows with the one press or pull to raise or lower the windows with one hit of the switch. How do I know if I have power park mirrors please ?? Thx guys.

Do you have a single small press switch above the large circular mirror adjustment switch?

When that topic of folding mirrors came up here, I did a little research. While I was relatively sure that I do not have folding mirrors, I wanted to know for sure (just in case I have them and there is a trick to activate them, which I don't know yet). I think folding mirrors are relatively rare on X-Type. But if you have them, it looks like they should fold, if you double-lock your car (i.e. press the lock button on the remote twice). That is one way the test and the other more obvious way to look at your switch (see Mark's picture above).

I never had a Lexus - and a GS300 is a Lexus. But when I googled what your window-switch looks like...: Very similar.
Thus: Remove the door panel and when removed turn it upside down, look for the inside and there should be roughly 3 little bolts under the window switch screwing the switch-unit to the door panel.... Obviously, before actually switching (=changing) the switches, you could try first to remove the connector from the OE switch, plug it into your new switch and see if it works. |
