X type from 2.5 to 3.0

Hi all,

A while ago I changed the engine from a 2.5 to a 3.0.
Why? because the 2.5 started make strange noises, the oil pressure was gone and the bearings of the conrods said to me that they don`t want to work anymore, so in the bin with them.
I was breaking down a Jag S type to sell it in pieces and luckily there was an 3.0 AJV6 under the bonnet so I was saved.
The beast is working well but there is missing some power, when I press the throttle the rpm climbs up and the power goes more, less, more, less and more "in waves" and at 6000 rpm
you get the 100% jaguar roar (so full power, it feel like a turbo that kicks in) to 6500 rpm and then he shifts to the next gear.

Replacing the ECM from the 2.5 to a 3.0 will work but NOT 100%.
The car will start and drive but it will only drive in 3rde gear and every component will send an error code to the ECM and your dash will look like a Christmas three
I tried to delete the codes with my Jaguar Jtis program on my PC but it all stays the same

What I also replaced was the speedometer in the dashboard, the PMG(the black box above the ECM) and that little thing in your key but i do not know the name of that.

I also went to a dealer and they said that they are not sure if you reprogram the EMC 3.0 for my jag 2.5 that it will keeps his 3.0 data (so they think that a 3.0 ECM becomes a 2.5 ECM "explained with less words")

I hope there is someone that could help me.

Kind regard

Yannick

Hi all,

The inlet manifold was sucking false air but with a new seal for €6,50 the problem is solved.
The car runs well.
