X-Type 2.5L Fuel Filter - Replacement
Hello to All,
I was browsing under the car to confirm the location of the Fuel Filter.....and noticed the following;
Has genuine Jaguar Fuel Filter installed;
Part # 4X43-9B072-BB
LBEXA 25/03/2009 09 02
Can someone please explain the LBEXA reference..?
Also,
I understand that a special tool is required to release the fuel line
connections to / from the Fuel Filter - is this correct ?
If so, where does one get such a tool?
All assistance appreciated

LCGI, the LBEXA code is most likely a code for the assembly line that it was created on. The following numbers is the assembly date (ie, March 25 2009).
As for the special tool, it can be bought at any auto parts store. As them for the Ford fuel filter tool. THey will know exactly what you are talking about. IT will look like an X with some half moon scoops one each end of the X. You close the 2 scoops around the fuel line, slide it up the fuel line and while applying some pressure, wiggle the tool around. You will feel it slip past the clips holding the fuel line in place. Once past the clips, pull the tool and fuel line together to get the fuel line past the retaining ring. PUtting it back together is nothing more than pushing things back together. Do not forget to move the retaining clip out of the way when removing the filter and to reapply once things are about to be finished up.

Just for reference, I replaced my fuel filter a couple of months ago with a pair of needle nose pliers and a simple socket set. I can see where the special tool would come in handy, but for the placement of this filter, I don't really think you need to spend the extra cash. Just thought I would chime in!
