Hi pinchas770,

I have moved your post from the forum for the X350 to the forum for the X400, which is the Jaguar factory project code for your X-Type. Here you will find knowledgeable owners of similar cars.

In the meantime, please visit the New Member Area - Intro a MUST and post a required introduction so we can learn something about you and your Jaguar and give you a proper welcome.

Cheers,

Don

Pinchas770, if you are getting sound out of the AM/FM portion of the radio, but not out of the CD player, then your CD player is faulty. Unfortunately, this is going to require replacing the CD player. If you are talking about the CD changer in the trunk, this is a pretty straight forward swap. if you are talking about the CD player in the dash, then you are going to be best served by replacing the whole radio. With this being said, you will want to match up the style of radio (ie, with or without NAV). If your radio is currently one without NAV and are thinking about upgrading to NAV, let that idea go. Switching between the two is not an easy swap and requires the transferring of a lot of parts to make it all work. You will also want to get a letter from whoever you buy the new radio through that has the radio code on it. In a lot of markets, jaguar made it so if the radio lost power for a period of time, it would force the owner to put in a 4 digit code. There are ways around it, but it is easiest if you can simply get the code before hand. if they don't have the code, then I would recommend getting a letter with the company logo on the top of it stating that the radio was purchased used/recycled from car with VIN number.......... This is going to be vital information that your Jaguar dealership is going to ask for when you get the radio code from them. This was done specifically with the intention of making the radio worthless unless you were the owner of the radio.

If you need more information, let us know and we will assist however we can.
