X type fumes

hi looking for some help! I had a new turbo fitted last week as the x type kept going into limp mode, since the car was returned I now have a strong smell of fumes from the air vents when switched on and also coming from the driver side of the vehicle- coming in through window when it is open can any one advise? It is running fine, no visible smoke from exhaust under the car . Thanks.Sz

My guess is that they may have forgot a gasket either between the turbo and exhaust pipe. Or they pinched it putting it together. It don't take a huge gap to smell fumes in our cars. The way I check is I take a punk( a smoldering stick we use for lighting fireworks) Start the car and use the punk and go all along the seams where the turbo is and down pipe for exhaust. if there is a leak you will see the smoke move away from the pipe and the tip of the punk burn red as if you were blowing on it.

Hope this helps.
Good Luck,
The Dr!
