X-type petrol v6 2.0 sport overheating no internal heat

Hi everyone

I own an x-type petrol v6 2.0 sport 2002 with 156K kms

All of the sudden the internal heating does not work anymore and started to overheat

The fans work like crazy and the water tank is always full. There seems to be no water leakage nor signs of head gasket troubles

Any ideas? Thanks and God bless.

Could it be the Thermostat ? If not would suggest you have a cooling system blockage.
The year & mileage suggests it may be time to have the cooling system overhauled
Good luck Alvaro

Thanks Ray, I will ckeck that and let you know

Actually, what I find really strange is that my other car (a volvo s70 which NEVER gave me any trouble) ALSO overheated, and it seemed to only get better after I put regular WATER. Since I use the same coolant for both (some cheap green stuff I buy at the supermarket) I wonder if it could be generating slime or something and blocking the system

I think that you should be using cheap red stuff rather than green.
If you mix different types of coolant you can bugger it up totally.

^ there's your answer, green is NOT Jaguar compliant and if added with even traces of the correct fluid, turns to plugging gel.

The cooling system should be filled or replenished with a mixture of 50 per cent water and 50 per cent anti-freeze. Jaguar recommendation for your MY is: Specification: WSS M97B44 Extended Life Coolant (usually coloured orange) Concentration: 50% Frost Protection: -40°C (-40°F) Change Interval: 5 years or 156,000 miles Mixing different brands is not recommended. In addition, using distilled or de-ionised water is preferable to tap water.
