X type - Water Pump & Housing | Help!!

Few days ago, the x type overheated and when checked, the coolant was leaking from a point beneath the water pump housing but not the water pump gasket, the leaking point is a bit further inside and hard to see or diagnose. I've spent almost 3 days trying to take off either the water pump or its housing with no luck! First, the water pump is seriously sticking to the housing, I read a thread in which Thermo answered by smacking the water pump body using a hammer and piece of wood, I tried hammering that thing for an hour with no luck, and I am sure I did not leave any un-bolted screw or bolt there. Is there any other creative way I can take off the water pump?

secondly - the water pump housing, I followed the workshop manual, but the housing coolant inlet section bolts are hard to reach! I though of loosing the whole thermostat housing with its in/out hoses as a solution, managed to do so, but when I reached to the water pump outlet hose, the bolts are stripped!! I lost hope removing the water pump housing after having that, though I removed the valve cover as stated in the manual.

The first plan was to take off the water pump housing and identify the leaking location, then JB weld it, but now I am thinking of using a huge amount of high-temp silicon and apply it where the housing is leaking then use Liqui moly radiator stop leak hoping that will fix the issue. do you think this will work?

Please let me know if you have any suggestions or thoughts that could help out!

I've taken the water pump out, and the water pump housing is actually holding water inside, now I doubt if the housing is leaking. I will be replacing the thermostat and it's housing, did anyone face a leaking thermostat housing before? Will it just drip beneath the thermostat and can be easily identified? I am asking because the dripping beneath the water pump housing is somehow near the thermostat.

Also, there is a cam shaft gasket holding the water pump gasket with the pulley, I believe this one does not hold water correct? Not related to the water pump housing leak correct?

I appreciate any feedback on this.

i had a thermostat leaking before from a tiny crack, i replaced that and it worked , a month later tho my other thermostat was staying open keeping my engine cold, i replaced the pump and second thermostat and that fixed everything

I took out the water pump housing and found a hidden hole at the back - top side of it. Causing the leak to only occur when the car is running!

I replaced the housing, water pump & thermostat in order to ensure nothing fails when driving the car.

I think there is a tiny hole on the back of the pump on the side where the pulley/ belt is but I don't know what it is for , I replaced mine anyway and luckily I did because my pump was bad and starting to fill with sludge and the bearings made a noise when i spun it.
It could be a safety feature forbut pressure build up but we would need an experts advice to know fire sure.

Hopefully you won't have to go near the thermostat or pump ever again , I think I got my pump for 90 euro for a good mid range one

How did you remove the water pump housing? Was there silicon sealant or gasket?
