x400? which ODB? fit 1/4chrome trim o/s rear door?

Hi Guys & Gals
3 questions (sorry)

1) is my Jag an x400? it's a:
2009 Jaguar x type 2.2d se auto (that's all I know).

2) I want to get an ODB that checks ALL the codes but I am my Uncles carer, so by no means wealthy. therefore, which one is the cheapest but best?

3) I bought a new 1/4 chrome trim for the o/s rear door and some 12mm double sided tape from Halfords.
I have removed all the glue/stickiness from previous tape.
if I wash the rear of the chrome and the area where I have to fit the tape with washing up liquid, then a wipe (which are used to remove grease and debris before someone was painting an area).
do I put the double sided tape on the car surface, or on the rear of the chrome trim? (either way, how far in from the edge do I apply the tape?)

thank you in advance for your help and if you want to come to Salisbury and solve all my answers, you're more than welcome, lol.
Amanda xx

Hhhmmm....well X types were made from 2001 until 2008. You can see the actual mfg date on the door plate along with exterior and interior color codes. If you want to read ALL the codes including body codes, ability to actuate abs modules etc., then the IcarSoft LRII is in my opinion the best one available. It's not significantly more than the 930i.

log book states registered 09/2009
just wondered if x400 was a different spec, or if mine is classed as x400.

read through post via your link.
just states he polished it, not how to fit it.

First you are in the right forum. Yours is an X400. When I replace my rear trim on the drivers side rear window. the double sided tape was about 1/8 of an inch from the rib that you see on the rubber. I did not use tape since I had already loct one piece. I used Black trim Adhesive. I put a good size bead down the enter and pressed the chrome on. Held it for a minute or so. It was still there 2 years later when I sold the car.

Post #6 link takes you to process (an S, but about the same). Registration date is not the manufacturer's date. This can be important for some parts when buying in the future. IF it is a 2008, this is the "facelift" one.
