I recently purchased a 2018 Jaguar XE 2T. Didn't notice it had no backup camera till next day. How can you install a backup camera on the vehicle, Or can I just replace the stereo system with and upgraded one with a backup system. If I replace other than original system, will that Jaguar pic still come up on vehicle stereo display when doors are open. Help me out here!!

 

The entertainment system is baked into the car pretty deep, you can change them out but there's always some sort of compromise or something that doesn't quite work properly. At the pricey end a company in the UK does a retrofit kit for 600 pounds or I think 800 pounds with installation, at the cheap end I found this camera on Aliexpress but I have no idea if it'll suit your car, if the camera and your car have the necessary wiring, etc.

I think the cleanest way to add a reverse camera without messing with the stereo is replacing the rear view mirror with one that has a built in screen and auto dimming. The compromise here is you can't get a bigger screen than about four inches without spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars, but a 4.3" screen is better than no screen and the high-end unit is still less than half the price of a retrofit 🤷
