Contemplating an XE
I have recently started thinking of buying an XE. Not new to Jaguar, have an XK8 toy, previous had a 4.0 S Type (most reliable car I ever owned for 250000 km.) and several XJ12 (most unreliable cars ever). What are the best XE’s and what to watch out for? Thank you for your input.

I like the v6. But as you already know, great maintenance logs should be #1. I have found the v6 to be very reliable (78k miles) on mine. I did have the crossover cooling tubes replaced with the updated ones at about 65k miles. One nice bit about the v6 is that because of it's similarities with the v8 it has a lot of oil capacity. Others can speak to the 4 cylinder versions.

I have a 2017 XE 25T 4cylinder and enjoying the hell out of it - currently 82000ish miles on her - have only had 1 instance early on (belt came off) that was covered under warranty but many long distance drives hitting speeds of 100+mph and it handles like a dream. Routine maintenance and upkeep - plenty of power when you need it. Wife drives the XE more than me as my daily is my XK8 convertible

Mine’s a 2019 20T 4 cylinder and have had it nearly 6 years and 60,000 klm, apart from a replacement water pump in the first 6 months of ownership (electric fan would come on for no reason) has never had an issue. One of the best cars I’ve owned with exceptional road handling, comfort and all the power I need.

The XE is a great choice! The 2.0L Ingenium petrol and diesel are solid, but the 3.0L supercharged V6 is the most fun. Watch for timing chain issues on early models and electrical gremlins.
