Default Diesel Ingenium Engine Upgrade 2.0l

Hello I am new here and quite new to modern engines; being used to older models I could work on. I understand there is some fragility concerns over the timing chain on my 2015 2.0 AWD EX Rsport engine which has only done 96k Km, so, I am looking to have it changed as a precaution. This brings me on to 2 questions, If i just have the chain changed, are the replacements any better than the original chain? and secondly, if I am changing the chain, is it worth me making any changes to the top end, giving me more power that I have.

As an addendum to the second question, does anyone know of a specialist garage in France or mainland europe who can uprate the engine for me?

I actually love the way the car feels and drives but since I commute (on the occasions I take on work) from Bordeaux to Rotterdam I would like to think that I am doing it in a car which has decent MPG and isnt going to self destruct at any given moment.

Thanks

The effort to dismantle the timing chain and replace it, is such that normally all wearing parts in the timing chest are replaced at the same time. Jaguar uprated both the chain and the ancillary parts in early 2019, and these parts are available to fit to previous model year cars The timing chain is at the rear of the engine, so the gearbox normally has to come off. HOwever, as your car is AWD it's likely a shop will want to take the whole engine and gearbox/transfer box out in one assembly, and do the work on the bench. Replacing the timing chain is an expensive job !!

If it were me, I'd not change as a precaution, but wait unti it gets noisy, which you may be able to avoid by doing yearly oil & filter changes from now on. The Jaguar service intervals are stupidly long for a diesel engine.
