Jaguar XE iphone text messages

The system has an icon for text messages, but it cannot connect even though phone calls and music BT work fine. Anyone figure out how to get text messages on the jaguar infotainment system from an iPhone?

when I initially paired my phone - it asked if I wanted to pair with text, voice and data or just voice. You may need to clear the pairing and then repair the device

Just found this on the fpace forum. I will try tonight.

"Its very simple to do on iPhone 4, 5 and 6. To turn the text feature on first connect your device via bluetooth to your car's compatible multimedia centre as you would do normally to make hands free calls. Then on your iphone go to your bluetooth settings, select the connection for your car, click the blue circle exclamation point and the select "Show Notification" by toggling it on. Very simple!"

Good to have another option. Thanks, I will try to disconnect and re-connect too.

I just tried clicking the exclamation point in the circle on my iPhone 6s, while connected to the XE's bluetooth, but there was no "notifications" option.

They did a fix to my wife's infotainment as part of a "campaign" in its service a few weeks ago. The texts which had not worked on her iPhone 7 now come through (we had to start from scratch, so it sounds like a firmware thing).

I just tried this and could not find the option. I reconnected my phone and still not option. I just picked up my XE two weeks ago and they said they put the latest software update on it. I thought I heard somewhere that this feature was only available on Android?

It had only worked on my Note in the f-type, but now it works on my missus' iPhone 7 plus in the XE as well. But I did have to allow notifications in the iPhone settings.

Sending the texts from the car system is a bit hit and miss though. I was told it didnt work in Australia but it did once, unless my wife thought I was talking about something else when I asked.

I think the text messaging feature works on the non-Pro systems only. Which is a bit backwards... missing a feature on the pricier system.

I saw a text message once, will have to go through the steps posted!

So, I tried both options... Still no access to text messages from the car... only other option is a software upgrade???

Do you have the 8" or 10" display? Note Alphakinase's comment above.

I hope this isn't true...

I do notice if I wear my apple watch and have my iPhone 7 and get a text or any other notification while driving that it will be muted and I will never know about it until I check my phone.

It is almost like when BT is connected it silences all notifications while driving with the exception of the phone ringing of course.
